Garmin Courses Sync allows you to connect your komoot and Garmin accounts to automatically send saved routes to Garmin as Courses and import completed activities from Garmin Connect into komoot.

Tip: If you prefer komoot maps, Live Sync updates, additional features, or would like to easily transfer routes for navigation, we'd recommend using the komoot app for Garmin instead.

Limitations and device compatibility

  • Navigation uses Garmin's interface. Navigation instructions are calculated by Garmin and may differ from komoot
  • No Live Sync updates or komoot map features are available
  • Long routes may be simplified, and device storage is limited

Courses Sync isn't supported on devices that don't have built-in Garmin maps and navigation, such as the Vivoactive or Venu.

For a complete list of compatible devices and available integrations, visit the Connect your Garmin devices with komoot page.

Set up and manage the connection

You can connect komoot and Garmin through the Connections page on the komoot website or in the komoot app:

  1. Go to Profile > Settings > Connections > Pair with Connect
  2. Log in with your Garmin account and confirm.
  1. Go to Profile > Settings > Garmin Connect > Pair with Connect
  2. Log in with your Garmin account and confirm.

After connecting, you can manage the content you'd like to sync from komoot to Garmin and vice versa:

  • Activities – imports Garmin activities into komoot.
  • Courses – sends saved routes from komoot to Garmin.

To activate the integration, enable at least one of these sync options.

Once you've established the connection, you can return to the Connections page at any time to revise the settings.

Transfer activities from Garmin Connect to komoot

If you enable Activities, completed activities from the last five years are automatically imported from your Garmin Connect account into komoot.

This synchronization happens automatically and cannot be manually controlled or reversed.

If you want to remove imported activities, you can bulk delete them:

  1. Go to Profile > Settings > Connections
  2. Review import to manage the activities imported from Garmin
  1. Profile > Settings > Garmin Connect
  2. Review import to manage the activities imported from Garmin

Note: Completed activities recorded in the komoot app do not sync to Garmin Connect.

Transfer saved routes from komoot to Garmin

If you enable Courses, your saved routes are automatically pushed to Garmin. This includes:

  • the last 10 saved routes
  • routes within the past 2 months

These routes are saved as Garmin Courses and appear automatically on your device when it syncs via Wi-Fi or a cellular connection, under Training and Planning > Courses.

Additional saved routes can be transferred by exporting them as GPX files and importing them manually.

Note: You may need to reset all map filters in Garmin Connect to display all routes.

Deactivate the Garmin Courses integration

If you no longer want your saved routes to sync automatically between komoot and Garmin Connect, you need to deactivate the integration.

  1. Go to Profile > Settings > Connections
  2. Remove the Garmin Connect connection
  1. Go to Profile > Settings > Garmin Connect
  2. Disconnect from Garmin
