Live Sync is available for selected connected devices. Availability and functionality depend on the partner and the specific device model.

This feature lets you start navigation in komoot and send a route to a connected device directly from the komoot app or website.

Live Sync is currently available for the following partners: Garmin, Bosch, Wahoo, and Flasher.

We're continuously working to expand Live Sync support to additional partners and device models.

Eligibility & Requirements

Live Sync is available only for supported device partners and specific device models. A Profile Connect connection is required, but it does not enable Live Sync on its own. The partner must also support the Live Sync integration for that device.

If your device supports Live Sync, the following is required:

  • Your komoot account must be linked to the partner account through Profile Connect
  • Your device and/or partner app must have an internet connection

Who can use this feature?

  • Premium users: Always have access, no limits
  • Users with a Map product: Can use it in the regions they've unlocked
  • All users, including free users: Can use it in their Free Region

How Live Sync works

Live Sync lets you send a route directly to a connected device when starting navigation in the komoot mobile app or on the website.

On supported devices, the route is received instantly and must be confirmed before navigation begins.

Start a navigation with Live Sync

  1. Open a route and click Navigate
  2. Select the device you'd like to send the route to
  3. Accept the route if needed, then start navigation
  1. Open a route and tap Navigate
  2. If a default device is set, navigation will start on that device
  3. Accept the route if needed, then start navigation

Tip: To change the device, use the Navigation options before starting

Update a route with Live Sync

  1. Edit your route on the komoot website
  2. Click Navigate and select your device to send the updated route
  3. Confirm the update on your connected device
  1. Edit your route in the komoot app while navigation is running
  2. Tap Navigate with device to send the updated route
  3. Confirm the update on your connected device

The updated route is downloaded and applied to your device. On supported models, the current activity can continue without starting a new recording.

Live Sync vs Profile Connect

Live Sync works together with Profile Connect, which connects your komoot account to your device. While Profile Connect syncs saved routes, Live Sync enhances this connection by letting you send routes directly to your device and update them during navigation.

Here's how the experience differs:

Profile Connect Live Sync
Routes must be saved to your komoot profile before they can be transferred Send a selected route directly to your device when starting navigation
Transfer typically starts from the detail page of a planned route Transfer is available from the Route Planner, planned routes, completed activities and ready-made routes
After syncing via the partner app or Bluetooth, open the route from the device list and download it manually The device receives a notification. Confirm to download and start navigation immediately
Updating a running route may require stopping navigation, syncing a new version and starting a new activity On supported devices, route changes can be sent during navigation and applied without starting a new activity
Updating mid-activity can result in two separate recordings Updating mid-activity result in a single recording (if supported by the device)
