komoot Premium is a subscription that renews automatically unless canceled. You can manage your subscription at any time using the account you originally used to purchase Premium.

Note: Map purchases (World Pack and Regions) are one-time payments. They don't need to be renewed or canceled. World Pack does not include Premium features — these are separate products. See komoot plans: Maps and Premium for a full comparison.

World Pack may appear as Complete Package on receipts.

Check your Premium subscription details

If you already have a Premium subscription, you can view its details in your Account Settings on the komoot website.

To check your subscription details, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Account Settings on the komoot website
  2. Go to the Premium tab

You'll be able to see:

  • Whether Premium is active
  • The renewal or expiration date
  • The platform where the subscription was purchased
  • Options to cancel or reactivate the subscription

Cancel komoot Premium

When you cancel Premium, only the automatic renewal is stopped. You keep access to Premium features until the end of the paid period. There will be no further renewal attempts after cancellation. You can undo the cancellation at any time before the subscription expires.

Canceling Premium doesn't automatically include a refund. Any such request would need to be made separately. See Request a refund.

Note: Once your subscription expires Premium features, including Personal Collections, are removed. If you re-subscribe using the same account, your existing data will be available again.

Any previously purchased World Pack or Region Packs remain available.

Depending on where you purchased your subscription, follow the instructions below. Not sure? Check the Premium tab in your account settings — it shows your subscription status and where you purchased it.

If you purchased Premium on the komoot website, you'll also need to cancel through the website:

  1. Go to your Account Settings > Premium
  2. Click Cancel subscription and confirm

Note: If the Premium menu isn't visible, you're likely logged in with a different account than the one used to purchase Premium.

If you purchased Premium through the Android app, cancellations and reactivations must be handled directly in the Google Play Store. The komoot app forwards you there to cancel or manage a trial.

If your subscription does not appear in Google Play, please reach out to Google Play Support directly for help locating and managing your subscription.

If you purchased Premium through the iOS app, cancellations and reactivations must be handled directly in the Apple App Store.

Reactivate komoot Premium

If you canceled your subscription but your paid period hasn't expired yet, you can undo the cancellation and keep Premium without any interruption.

If your subscription has already expired, you can start a new one at any time.

  1. Go to your Account Settings > Premium
  2. Click Reactivate subscription (if still within the paid period) or Subscribe to start a new subscription.

Note: If you canceled a PayPal billing agreement, it cannot be reactivated. To resume Premium with PayPal, wait until your current period expires and start a new subscription. If you prefer not to wait, switch to a credit card now via Update your payment method.

Reactivations for subscriptions purchased through the Android app must be handled directly in the Google Play Store.

Reactivations for subscriptions purchased through the iOS app must be handled directly in the Apple App Store.

If you'd like to change the payment method used for your subscription upon reactivation, please go to the Change your payment method section.

Update your payment method

If you'd like to update the credit card on file, or change your payment method from PayPal to a credit card, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Account Settings on the komoot website.
  2. Go to the Premium tab.
  3. Click Update payment method.
  4. Enter your payment details, then click Update.

To update your payment method for subscriptions purchased via Android, follow the instructions in this Google Play article.

To update your payment method for subscriptions purchased via iOS, follow the instructions in this Apple article.

Change your payment method

Note: Unless you're changing your payment method from PayPal to a credit card, you must first cancel your subscription.

If you're switching from PayPal to a credit card, go to the Update your payment method section.

For any other payment method change (for example, switching between platforms like Apple App Store and Google Play, or registering a new card), follow these steps:

  1. Wait for your current subscription to expire. You can't update the payment method until the subscription is inactive. To prevent automatic renewal, cancel the subscription in your account settings.
  2. Start a new subscription. Once the previous subscription is inactive and your account has been downgraded, you can resubscribe and select a different payment method, depending on the platform you use (web, Android, or iOS).
  3. Regain access to Premium features. Your Premium content is hidden during the gap, but nothing is deleted.

Good to know: Your routes, profile, and map data remain safe throughout this process.

FAQ

My Premium subscription isn't showing in my account

Activation is automatic and usually takes effect immediately after purchase. If Premium isn't showing, first sign out and back in. If you paid via PayPal, confirm in your PayPal account that the payment completed successfully. If it still isn't showing, you're likely logged into a different account than the one used to purchase — work through the steps in My Premium, purchases, or content are missing. If none of those steps help, that article also explains what to share so we can take a closer look.

My account shows Premium as expired — is my data gone?

No. When Premium expires, your account reverts to the free plan. Premium features (including Personal Collections) are hidden, but none of your routes, activities, or data are deleted. If you resubscribe using the same account, everything becomes available again. See Reactivate komoot Premium.

Why is Premium inactive after a refund?

If a Premium payment is refunded, there is no active subscription on the account. To regain access, start a new subscription on your platform of choice. We do not extend already used Premium time and we do not add extra months for periods without an active subscription.

Can I get a refund if I forgot to cancel?

Depending on when you were charged, you may be eligible. See our Request a refund article for eligibility windows and instructions.

Can I pause my komoot Premium subscription?

Pausing a subscription is not currently possible. If you need to stop your subscription temporarily, you can cancel it. Your routes, activities, and saved content will remain on your account. When you're ready to return, resubscribe using the same account, and everything will be available again.

Is a free trial available?

Free trial offers are occasionally available on some platforms and in some regions. When a trial is available, it will be shown at the checkout screen before you confirm your purchase. Trials may not be offered if you've used one before on the same account or Apple ID.

I want to cancel Premium, but I don't see it on my account

If your account shows no active Premium subscription but you have been charged, the subscription is likely on a different komoot account. Work through the steps in My Premium, purchases, or content are missing. If none of those steps help, that article also explains what to share so we can take a closer look.
