Invite participants with QR code to a group Tour
If, for example, you meet someone at the beginning of a group Tour who is not yet your friend on komoot or whose email address you don't know, you can simply share the Tour via the QR code. By scanning the QR code, participants can be quickly and easily added to the Tour.
Tip: Most modern smartphones already have a built-in camera app that can scan QR codes. Alternatively, you can also download a QR code scanner app from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
Inviting participants to a Tour with a QR code
The QR code can be accessed as follows via the organizer's Tour:
If you want to open the QR code from the website, such as for printing, you can do so by visiting the website and capturing a screenshot of it.
- Click on your username in the upper right corner.
- Select Planned under Tours.
- Select the tour to which you want to invite someone.
- Click on Organize a group hike/ ride ().
- Here you will find the QR code for this Tour.
- Upon scanning the QR code, the designated individual can access the Tour within the Komoot app, providing them with the choice to either Accept or Decline.
- Open Profile ().
- Select Planned under Tours.
- Select the Tour to which you want to invite someone.
- Click on Organize a group hike/ ride ().
- Here you will find the QR code for this Tour.
- Point the camera of the person's smartphone you want to share the Tour with at the QR code. Make sure the entire QR code is visible within the camera frame.
- The camera app automatically recognizes the QR code and displays the website of komoot.com. Tap on it to continue.
- This opens the Tour in the komoot app, where you can Accept or Decline the Tour.
If the participant does not yet have the komoot app installed on their phone, the Tour will open in the mobile browser.
Attention: If you join a Tour using a QR code but later decline it, the Tour won't be saved in your list of planned Tours. To retrieve it after rejection, you'll have to rescan the QR code, be added as a participant by the organizer or by using the Tour invitation link. You can then find it in the notification center ().
Revoke invite access
If you have printed the QR Code on a Flyer or shared it on a public platform and no longer wish for new people to join through the code, you can end the invitation sharing at any time by creating a new QR code. The current QR code will become invalid. However, those who have already accepted an invitation can still participate in the Tour.
- Click on your username in the upper right corner.
- Select Planned under Tours.
- Select the Tour you want to revoke invite access.
- Click on Organize a group hike/ ride ().
- Click on Options ().
- Select Revoke invite access.
- Confirm that you want to permanently end the sharing by clicking on Revoke invite access.
