Garmin error message: Your device’s storage is full
If your device's storage is exhausted, you will encounter the following message:
“Your device’s storage is full. Free up storage by removing courses, deleting downloaded Tours or removing music.”
Tip: If the Garmin Courses integration is activated, the automatic synchronization could potentially refill the Garmin device memory automatically. In such a situation, it is necessary to first disable the Garmin Courses integration. Learn here how to do that: Disable komoot/ Garmin Courses synchronization.
What to do next
As the storage limit of your device has been reached, you will need to delete data in order to save new Tours. For instance, you can uninstall any other apps that are no longer needed, if your device is capable of playing music, you can also consider deleting some music from the device or delete courses and recorded activities.
If these measures do not free up sufficient space, you have the option to reset your device, which will remove all the data on the device. After resetting, you can then reinstall the komoot app to ensure it functions properly.
Tip: You can check the available storage space on your device by connecting it to a computer.
Please refer to your device manual for instructions on how to delete data from your device, or read here how to remove courses from the device's folder by connecting it to your computer.
Note: The name of the "Courses" folder may vary depending on the Garmin device and firmware version. For example:
/Garmin/Courses
/Garmin/NewFiles
/Garmin/GPX
/Garmin/Tours
Deleting from the Garmin device
- Go to the "Navigation" menu on your device.
- Select "Courses" from the options.
- Look for "Saved Courses" and delete the Tour from there.
If your device does not have a Courses/ Tours/ GPX folder, refer to the device manual to see if deleting Tours from the device is available and where to find it. If your device doesn't have this option delete them via connecting your device to computer.
Deleting via connecting device to computer
You have the option to manually delete Tours by connecting your Garmin device to your computer using a USB cable and deleting the Tour from the "Courses" folder. You can find a guide on how to do this in this Garmin article.
