Replan a Tour while navigating

If you decide to adjust the planned route during a running navigation, for example because you want to add or remove a surrounding Highlight or POI (Point of Interest), you can do so during the navigation. In addition, you have the option to start another saved Tour during the current navigation. It is also possible to navigate back to the starting point as well as planning a new Tour without losing the previous recording.

Attention: Internet connection is required to replan a Tour.

Add waypoints via the map

To add a new waypoint to your current navigation via the map, you can either add this point as a new waypoint to the route or set it as a new endpoint.

Add waypoints

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. On the map, tap the point you want to add to the Tour.
  2. Select As waypoint and confirm with Add to Route.

Set as endpoint 

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. On the map, tap the point you want to set as the new end point.
  2. Select To end and confirm with Add to Route.

Add waypoints

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. On the map, tap the point you want to add to the Tour.
  2. Select Include on Route.

Set as endpoint

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. On the map, tap the point you want to set as the new end point.
  2. Select More Options.
  3. Select Set as New End Point.

Add waypoints via search

Using the search function you have the option to search for specific locations or addresses.

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. Tap and hold the STOP button to pause the Tour.
  2. Select the magnifying glass icon () on the right side of the map, which opens the Route planner. 
  3. Enter the desired address in the search field. Check if the waypoint has been inserted at the desired place and move it if necessary by clicking ADJUST ROUTE > unfold all waypoints () and move it to the right place by holding the two lines next to the waypoint (). 
  4. Click Resume Navigation ().

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. Tap on Controls ().
  2. Click in the search field at the top.
  3. Enter the desired address in the search field.
  4. Select Include on Route to add this as a waypoint or choose More Options > Set as New End Point to set the location as the endpoint. 
  5. Click Resume Navigation ().

Add Highlights or POIs

Highlights

The red marked dots on the map are Highlights and will automatically be displayed while the navigation. To add a highlight to the route, you can click on the red dot on the map and select Add to Route (Android) or Include on Route (iOS).

POIs

To get POIs (Point of Interests), for example train stations/bus stops, parking lots, toilets or accommodations displayed on the map during a running navigation, do the following:

  1. Tap and hold the STOP button to pause the Tour.
  2. Select the magnifying glass icon () on the right side of the map, which opens the Route planner. 
  3. Click the magnifying glass icon () again.
  4. Select the category of the POI you want to use. This will display them by an icon on the map.
  5. Click on the icon on the map and select As waypoint or To end and confirm your selection by Add to Route.
  6. Click Resume Navigation ().
  1. Tap on Controls ().
  2. Click in the search field at the top.
  3. Select the category of the POI you want to use. This will display them by an icon on the map.
  4. Select Include on Route to add this POI as a waypoint or choose More Options > Set as New End Point to set the location as the endpoint. 
  5. Click Resume Navigation ().

Remove waypoints, Highlights or POIs

If you decide during the Tour not to visit certain waypoints, Highlights or POIs, you can delete them from your route as follows.

Tip: Make sure you zoom in on the map to hit the exact point you want to delete. If you do not click on the point you want to delete, you will automatically get to the option to add another waypoint.  

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. On the map, tap the waypoint, Highlight or POI you want to delete.
  2. Press the trash icon () in the resulting window.

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. On the map, tap the waypoint, Highlight or POI you want to delete.
  2. Click on Remove in the resulting window.

Navigate back to starting point

If you decide during an ongoing navigation that you do not want to finish it and instead want to be navigated back to the starting point, komoot will calculate the direct route back to the starting point from your current location. Your recording will continue seamlessly, but your planned Tour will be discarded from here on.

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. Tap and hold the STOP button to pause the Tour.
  2. Click on More () in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Replan to starting point.
  4. Confirm the replan-prompt by clicking on ADJUST TOUR.
  5. Click Resume Navigation ().

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. Tap on Controls ().
  2. Select Replan to Start ().
  3. Confirm the replan-prompt by clicking on Replan to Start.
  4. Click Resume Navigation ().

Open a different Tour

To switch to another planned Tour during an ongoing navigation without losing your previous recording, follow these steps:

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. Tap and hold the STOP button to pause the Tour.
  2. Select the magnifying glass icon () on the right side of the map.
  3. This will bring up the main menu. Click on Profile ().
  4. Select Tours Planned.
  5. Toggle the Store for offline use slider ().
  6. Click Navigation().

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. Tap on Controls ().
  2. Click in the search field at the top.
  3. Select the back arrow ( ) next to the search field.
  4. This will bring up the main menu. Click on Profile ().
  5. Select Tours Planned.
  6. Toggle the Store for offline use slider ().
  7. Click Start Navigation.

Plan a new Tour

If you want to change the current route during a running navigation without losing the previous recording, the best way to do this is as follows: 

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. Tap and hold the STOP button to pause the Tour.
  2. Select the magnifying glass icon () on the right side of the map, which opens the Route planner. 
  3. Click ADJUST ROUTE.
  4. Delete all unwanted waypoints by clicking on the trash icon ().
  5. Replan the Tour. Tips for planning can be found here: Planning Tours on Android.
  6. Click Resume Navigation ().

During an ongoing navigation:

  1. Tap on Controls ().
  2. Select Plan New Tour, which opens the Route planner.
  3. Make the desired changes to the Tour. In case you want to replan the route entirely, click More () > Scrap Route. Tips for planning can be found here: Planning Tours on iOS.
  4. Click Resume Navigation ().
