Below you find a collection of the most common Garmin error messages displayed on newer devices when you use the newest version of the komoot app as well as the newest Garmin software version.

Error messages about storage

“Your device can't store any more courses/tracks. Clear up some space by deleting some courses off your device and try again.”

Some devices can only contain 30 or 100 downloaded tours. If you try to download more Tours you will get this message.

What you need to do:

On Edge devices and Watches:

  • Connect your device to a computer, remove files from the “Garmin/Courses” folder
  • OR open an activity on the watch and press the Up arrow. Select “Courses” and delete the Tour from there.

On Oregon / GPSMap devices:

  • Connect your device to a computer, remove files from “Garmin/GPX” folder.
  • OR Tap on Search button / open the main menu, select “Tracks” and delete the Tour from there.

Please note:

  • There might still be storage space on the device, but it is the number of downloaded courses that is important. You need to delete those to make downloading more Tours possible.
  • Courses and recorded activities are different files (activities are saved under Garmin/Activities). You need to delete downloaded Courses.
  • If you have enabled the Garmin Courses integration, the automatic sync may fill up the memory of the watch again automatically. In this case you need to disable the Garmin Courses integration first.

“Your device’s storage is full. Free up storage by removing courses, deleting downloaded Tours or removing music.”

This error message indicates that the Garmin device does not have any space left.

What you need to do:

Remove the offline data from the Komoot app settings screen, remove some recorded activities from the device, or remove downloaded Courses. You can see how much space is left in your device if you connect it to a computer.

“The app has no memory left. Clear up some space by removing downloaded Tours or clearing offline data in Settings.”

The komoot application on the Watch also has a storage limit. This error message indicates that this limit has been reached.

What you need to do:

Remove some cached images or downloaded Tours. We recommend deleting all offline data on the settings screen.

Error messages about the Bluetooth connection

“The internet connection has been lost. Connect to your phone via Bluetooth or use WiFi and try again.”

This message can indicate that the Bluetooth connection has been lost from either the phone’s or the device’s side. Therefore the list of planned tours cannot be downloaded.

What you need to do:

Enable the Bluetooth on your device, check that it’s connected to a phone.

“You’re currently offline. Connect to your phone via Bluetooth or use WiFi and try again.”

This specific message will be shown when logging in and appears if you have not been logged in on your Garmin device yet and there is no internet connection.

What you need to do:

You need to enable Bluetooth and connect to the phone. Then a message will be displayed that asks you to enter the displayed code on komoot.com/connect.

“You’re currently offline. Only downloaded Tours are available. Connect to your phone via Bluetooth or use WiFi to access more Tours.”

This error message is displayed in offline mode, when you previously downloaded Tours onto your device and then started the app with no internet connection.

What you need to do:

Connect your device to your phone via Bluetooth or connect to WiFi etc.

“Tour cannot be downloaded. Connect to your phone via Bluetooth or use WiFi and try again.”

This message is displayed when the device was online when you started a Tour download, but the connection was disconnected during the download.

What you need to do:

Connect your device to your phone via Bluetooth or connect to WiFi. It can help to only use the Bluetooth connection and deactivate the Wifi on your device.

Other Error messages

“The Tour is too long for this device. Split this Tour into stages and try again.”

This message is displayed when you try to download a Tour, which is too big for your device. The limit is currently 256 kB on watches, 1024 kB on Edge devices and around 740 kB on Oregon and GPSmap devices.

What you need to do:

Split the Tour on Komoot into multiple smaller tours and sync those to your device.

“This Tour is corrupted, navigation couldn't be started successfully. Download it again to continue.”

This message indicates that the downloaded Tour is corrupted and cannot be started. Either it was saved incorrectly or it was already removed from the device.

What you need to do:

Remove this Tour from your device and download it again. Either uncheck the “Offline available” button in the Tour and download it again, remove all offline data from the Settings screen in the Komoot app, or remove the downloaded course from the Garmin/Courses folder from your computer.

You haven't planned any Tours with this account. Check you've connected the correct account or plan some Tours on komoot now.

This message will be displayed when you have installed the komoot app on your Garmin and logged in, but there are no planned Tours on the connected account.

What you need to do:

Make sure you have some planned Tours in your komoot account that can be displayed on the Garmin.
