Signing in with Apple ID
Komoot supports logging in with your Apple ID on the website and in the iOS app. This means that you can:
- Create a komoot account with your Apple ID login
- Connect an existing komoot account with your Apple ID
The login via the Apple ID is not currently supported on Android devices. To find out how to log into your account on Android anyway, scroll down.
Creating a komoot account with Apple ID
If you’ve never had a komoot account before and would like to use the Apple ID login, simply select the Apple login option when creating your account. Select “I’m brand-new to komoot” and follow the steps to log into your Apple ID. This will create a new komoot account. If you choose to hide your email address, your komoot account will be created with the automatically generated email address from Apple.
Connecting an existing komoot account
If you already have a komoot account, you can connect it to your Apple ID by selecting the Apple option on the login page. If the email address is associated with an existing komoot account you’ll be asked for your komoot password (only on the first time you log in with Apple).
If we don’t find the email address in our database, choose “I already have a komoot account” and follow the steps to log in. This will allow you to log into your komoot account with Apple ID and with your normal email address and password.
Disconnecting Apple ID from komoot
The option to disconnect Apple ID from komoot is in the Apple settings. Please follow the instructions from Apple.
If you created your account with your Apple ID login and would like to keep the account, you can reset your password. The reset link will be sent to the same email address as your Apple ID email. If you chose to hide your email address, you’ll need to find the automatically generated email that Apple uses as a placeholder for the login process and use that to log in. Please contact our support team if you get stuck during this process.
Troubleshooting
Creating a second komoot account with Apple ID
If you accidentally create a second komoot account while trying to connect your Apple ID account to your existing komoot account, we recommend choosing one of these accounts to keep and deleting the other one. Currently you can’t merge accounts on komoot. More information about this can be found in this help article: Two komoot accounts.
Error message during account creation
If the connection is interrupted during the sign up process, you may get an error message saying “unable to create account.” In this case, you’ll be prompted to enter your email address. If you would like to keep your email address hidden, please go to your Apple settings and follow instructions to stop using your Apple ID with an app. Then start the sign-up process again.
Logging in on an Android device
If you create your account using your Apple ID and have chosen the option to hide your email address from komoot, Apple will have given komoot an automatically generated email address during the signup process. To log into your account on your iOS or on the website, we recommend simply selecting the Apple ID login option. To log in on an Android device, where the Apple login is not yet supported, you’ll need to go into the Apple settings and find the automatically generated email address from Apple, which you can then use to log in. You might need to reset your password in order to log in.
