When you transfer a komoot Tour to your Garmin device the usual komoot features that you can find in the app will not necessarily be available on your Garmin device. The availability of features like turn-by-turn navigation, as well as voice navigation and Premium features, depends on your device.
When you import a route to your Garmin, it gets transferred in form of GPS coordinates that will be recreated on the Garmin map. This means that you will always see the maps that are provided by your device. You always need to have maps installed on your Garmin device, irrespective of which maps you purchased on komoot.
Voice navigation on Garmin
At the moment, it is not possible to get voice navigation on the Garmin when you use komoot Tours as external Routes on your Garmin. The komoot Garmin IQ App makes it easy to download komoot routes to your Garmin device. The navigation then is up to the technical capabilities of the Garmin device itself. Some Garmin devices offer full navigation for routes created on the device itself. If you use external routes, such as the ones created on komoot, you will only see the route as a line on the map and can follow it. You can reach a full navigation, if you let the device recalculate the tour. This starts automatically when you start the Tour and will take a few minutes. The route will then be adapted to the maps of your Garmin device. However, keep in mind that it's possible that the course of the route might be adjusted a bit in this case. This is not possible on the watches, they cannot display acoustic signals in addition to the line.
Turn-by-turn navigation arrows
At the moment none of the Garmin devices is capable of showing turn-by-turn navigation instructions in form of arrows on the screen of the device.
If you’ve purchased komoot Premium, the Collections feature is available on all Garmin devices. You can find it when clicking on your profile. It will appear as a separate tab below the tab opening your planned Tours on the Garmin.
