My file cannot be imported
If your GPX file has a wrong format, you get the error message "Sorry, your file could not be imported." There can be several reasons for this:
- Komoot currently only supports GPX, FIT and TCX files during import.
- We can only upload planned tours, not a collection of single points (e.g. POIs like campsites) to display them on the map. POIs can also be displayed in the route planner. Read more here.
- We need trackpoints (<trkpt>) to plan GPX files (see Wikipedia article on GPS Exchange Format for more information) or waypoints (<wpt>), otherwise we can't display the tour.
- The formatting of the file is corrupted. You can open your file with an editor program on your computer to see the formatting. Certain editors may show you formatting errors due to different color markings (e.g. if a so-called "tag" has not been closed). This is an open trackpoint tag: <trkpt> It must always be closed this way: </trkpt>. ).
The planning deviates from the original file after the import.
We're trying to adapt the route to our system. In most cases this works fine; in a few cases we might not be able to adapt the route at all. In this case please send us the route to feedback[at]komoot.de. We work continuously to improve the system.
My file consists of several segments - I can only upload the stages individually
With komoot you can import files that consist of several segments. However, we can only upload them one by one. You cannot upload them all together. For navigation it is also better to plan in stages.
