You can choose which Highlights and points of interest (POIs) you want to appear on the planning interface when using the route planner on the website. You can adjust their visibility on the map by using the menu in the route planner. 

When opening the route planner, Highlights are pre-selected to appear on the map while POIs are not. To change this view, click the search field on top and a drop-down menu of POI and Highlight options appears. Select or deselect these options by clicking on the options themselves (a tick mark, like you see next to the Highlights, means the option is visible on the map). 

Hiding Highlights in the app is not currently possible but you can adjust which POI’s show in the same way as on the web.
