Using a recorded Tour for navigation
On komoot you can not only navigate your planned Tours but also any Tour that has been recorded. This could be one of your own previously completed Tours, a Tour of a friend or follower or even a Tour you find in the “Discover” section or your news feed.
You just have to open the Tour you would like to navigate on your device and tap on the “Start Navigation” button.
Stick to the original route versus matching route to known ways
As some routes that are recorded on komoot might deviate from komoot’s known network of roads, streets and paths, you may be given the option to either “Stick to Original Route” or to “Match Route to Known Ways” when clicking on the “Start Navigation” button.
Choosing “Stick to Original Route” will regenerate the route exactly as it was tracked. Sections that diverge from known ways will appear as off-grid segments. As some stages of the Tour might be off-grid, komoot can’t guarantee that the entire route is accessible. Navigation may also be less accurate during these sections.
Choosing “Match Route to Known Ways” will replan the sections of your route that deviate from komoot’s known network of roads, streets and paths, picking the best alternative ways. This means that komoot will make as few changes as possible to your route, but offering a more reliable navigation and ensuring accessible routes.
Editing a recorded Tour before navigation
If you want to edit the Tour before navigating it, open the Tour and tap the three dots on the top right. Then choose “Replan this Tour”/”Plan Similar Tour”. A copy of the Tour will then open in the route planner and you will be able to edit it. Once you are finished in the planner, tap ‘Save’ to add it under a new name to your list of planned Tours or start the navigation directly in the app.
