Popular hiking or cycling paths
Komoot offers some popular hiking or cycling paths that are planned by our editors and there are multiple ways you can use those to plan your Tours. You can use for example long distance cycling paths and long distance hiking trails. You can find those trails for example in the Collections we create under “Discover” or on our Topic Pages. If the path you are looking for is not included here, you have the following options.
Importing GPS files
In case a hiking trail or a cycling path you want to use is not yet listed on komoot, you can search for preplanned Tours from external sources in the form of GPS files, which you can then import to komoot. You can upload GPX, FIT or TCX files to the komoot app or via our website and use these for navigation. Read all about how to import GPS files in the related help article.
Using recordings from other users
Popular Tours are often already planned or completed by other komoot users. In this case you can enter the name of the Tour you are looking for together with the word “komoot” into Google. Then you will find all Tours other komoot users have planned and completed in relation to this route. You can then save these Tours as planned Tours so they appear on your profile. These can be edited and tracked/navigated at any time.
Using OpenCycleMap and Premium Maps
In the route planner on our website you can display the OpenCycleMap. You can do this via the map layer button underneath the +/- icon on the right-hand side of the page. You will see all known cycle routes and can manually plan along them. These map layers are only available on our website and not in the app. If you have a Premium account, you can also display komoot’s cycling map, which shows the most popular biking and hiking routes.
