Connect Wear OS to komoot
You can use komoot on a Wear OS watch to navigate routes and record activities. The watch app works on its own, so you can leave your phone at home. Maps and routes work offline.
Requirements:
- Android version 8 or later
- Wear OS 2 or newer
Note: If the komoot app is not available for download from the Play Store on your watch, we cannot guarantee that the device is compatible.
Set up the connection
The komoot app on your watch does not need a phone connection while you navigate or record. Pair your watch with your phone once, to install the app and sign in. Read here how to set up the connection for the first time.
Note: Depending on the watch manufacturer, different apps may be used to connect the watch to your phone, for example, Wear OS or Wearable for Samsung.
Follow the steps below on your watch:
- Open the Play Store and search for komoot
- Install the komoot app
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and your watch
- Log in to the same komoot account you use on your smartphone
If you already have the komoot app on your smartphone, you can also install it from Apps on my smartphone in the main menu on your watch.
Note: Log in to the same komoot account on your watch and your phone, so your routes and activities stay in sync.
Navigate a route
You can access your planned routes either in the komoot app on your watch or on your smartphone.
Follow the steps below on your watch:
- Open the komoot app
- Select Planned Routes
- Select the route you want to navigate
- Start navigation
The watch shows your route on an offline map and guides you with turn-by-turn instructions, using visual and haptic prompts. You can choose which stats to see.
You can pause, continue, and end navigation on the watch. When you finish, save the activity on the watch: komoot uploads it as soon as your watch is back online.
Attention: By default, only the last 10 routes are shown on the watch. If you want to navigate an older route, start it from your smartphone.
